North Island Pride respectfully acknowledges that we operate on the unceded traditional territory of the Ligwiłda’xw people; the We Wai Kai, Wei Wai Kum, Kwiakah First Nations and the traditional keepers of their lands.
As uninvited guests to this territory we extend our appreciation for the opportunity to live, learn, work, and play on their territory.
Our Story
North Island Pride Society started as an informal group of volunteers who banded together to put on the annual Campbell River Pride Festival. The first festival was held in 2015, and it was a continuation of the work of CR Pride and the Walk Away from Homophobia. Our mission was and is to educate on LGBTQ2S+ issues and to create spaces where sexual and gender diversity are celebrated.
In 2017, seeing the need for a sustaining structure, Sheldon Falk drafted bylaws and submitted an application to incorporate as a Non-Profit Society. North Island Pride Society was officially incorporated in British Columbia on August 3, 2017.
What We Stand For
The purposes of the Society are:
1. To bring together local organizations and individuals to put on an annual Pride Festival;

2. To provide workshops and programs to educate the public in (a) valuing inclusion and diversity in society in general and; (b) the negative effects of excluding individuals on the basis of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.
Our People
North Island Pride Society is run completely by volunteers! We are a fun, collaborative, grassroots organization that prides itself on doing a lot with a little.
